As a director, immersive experience designer, and the Executive Director of ROŪGE, he’s focused on one big idea: the arts aren’t just entertainment—they’re a system for cultural, civic, and economic vitality. His practice includes helping organizations tell their stories in ways that bring people closer and inspire meaningful support.

Under his leadership, ROŪGE has become a nimble, artist-led engine for bold storytelling and community connection. The company activates overlooked spaces, hires and empowers local artists, and uses technology to spark creative and economic energy across Hampton Roads. From Rosie the Riveter in an airplane hangar to Pride and Prejudice and Dragons at the Hermitage to Hedwig in a neighborhood bar, Patrick’s work blurs boundaries, builds community, and invites people to imagine what’s possible.

His projects have been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Virginia Humanities, the Center for Performance and Civic Practice, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, Virginia Humanities and regional partners from WHRO to the Philippine Cultural Center. He is a recipient of the Bettie Minette Cooper Arts Educator Award from the Hampton Roads Cultural Alliance.

Armed with an MFA from the University of South Carolina and two decades of experience as a director, producer, facilitator, and professor, Patrick has taught at Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, and Virginia Wesleyan University. His work lives at the intersection of storytelling, spectacle, and community—where immersive performance meets local culture, and where artists are equipped not just to make work, but to build a scene.

He likes his theatre immersive, his ensembles brave, and his spreadsheets color-coded.
